This quaint wild west one-street, one-sided town keeps your attention span busy. Needless to say - there is not much to do here, but you can spend a few entertaining hours as it is drenched in history, natural beauty, awe inspiring and magnificence. Mostly desolate, the first real road was constructed when Roosevelt Dam went up and when abouts Tortilla Flat came to be in 1904. Rumor has it Jesuits hid gold in the area the wealthy landowner Miguel Peralta is said to have uncovered some of this gold in the 1800s roamed and inhabited by the Yavapai. This place is an extraordinary remnant of Superstition Mountains lore. This Historical Landmark is one of the most unique spots in Arizona when it comes to reckoning with territorial history, geographic past and present, North American human history, and the expansion of the West. The only remaining stagecoach station is on the long, winding, and historic Apache Trail. ![]()
